The modern contemporary design is the three-story timber house for a family with two small children. The O House site is situated near a busy main road in Tokyo and is surrounded by small offices and homes. To ensure privacy and noise reduction, large polished plaster walls set off first. Then cut out openings for natural light, wind, saw the sky and the garden next door. Unusual Split-Level House in Philadelphia

I’m sure you’ve all seen at least one negative example of a modern construction built in a historic neighborhood. Not all really manage to fit in, do they? Today we would like to show you a different approach, a project which we consider to be perfectly integrated in its environment. Situated in Philadelphia, the Split-Level House comes from Qb, an architecture studio which also deals with design. The main materials used in order to complete the construction and to give it an inviting look were polished concrete, wood and steel. The contrast between them give the building its unique exterior style.Three-story high, the place also has a roof garden for private gatherings.

Off the Grid Small Osprey for IBS 2010

Starting January 19 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, four modular demonstration homes will be on display for the International Builders’ Show 2010. All of the homes will qualify for the NAHB’s National Green Building Certification, and they’ll be smaller, too. One home in particular, The Osprey, caught my attention. The 523 square-foot home, perhaps, will be the greenest of all four models in the Show Village.

LA Green Condo Remodel An Inspiration

I find the stories behind green homes to be quite interesting.  I was at the gym and happened upon this article in Home Magazine about Adam Coulter, a 27 year-old screenwriter and actor living in LA.  He successfully battled cancer in his teens and has been in remission since that time.  But since his bout with cancer, he's always attempted to live in the healthiest environment possible.  This third-floor condo is an example of Couter's quest for healthy living -- it's been renovated with bamboo flooring, organic linen draperies, recycled glass tiles, zero-VOC paints, and locally produced, sustainable materials, etc.

The condo remodel is super fresh and modern, a design aesthetic that certainly keeps the inner chi healthily chugging along.  You'll probably get stuck looking at the floating stairs, but don't forget check out the orange desk and mosaic bathroom tiles, too.
